Sense Properties from an Existing Duct

  1. Begin with the duct, leave the Place > Placement Options set the justification to the center-center position.
  2. Select (Duct Fittings) to Place the default Tee, type selected in the Place Component dialog.
  3. Change the active part definition to Supply New.
  4. In the Placement Options settings turn on the part/family, orientation, size and shape in the Placement Options settings. The tee appears attached to the pointer.
  5. Position the tee near the open end of an existing exhaust route made up of round duct, routed using top-left justification.

The match property settings checked in the previous step take effect:

    • Part/Family – The active part is changed to Exhaust Existing, matching the existing duct.
    • Orientation – The tee becomes detached from the pointer, attaches itself to the duct, and is rotated to be inline with the selected duct. It also becomes justified to the top left position.
    • Size – If the default dimension for the tee's three branches do not match the selected duct's dimensions, the dimension associated with the attached branch is changed to match that of the selected duct.
    • Shape – The rectangular tee is changed to a round tee as soon when attached to the selected duct.
  6. (Optional) Use the Heads Up Display to modify key dimensions before resetting to complete the placement.
  7. (Optional) Set the dimensions for the tee's unattached branches in the DataGroup properties panel.
  8. Reset to complete.
